Multi Engine Rating

MULTI ENGINE RATING FOR PPL AND CPL

What is the Multi Engine Piston – MEP(A) Class Rating? MEP(A) Class Rating allows you to pilot aircraft with more than one engine under VFR The Multi Engine Piston – MEP(A) rating extends the privileges of a Private Pilot License – PPL(A) or Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) and allows you to fly an aircraft with more than one engine under Visual Flight Rules – VFR. One of the main takeaways of the training is to understand the differences between a single engine piston and a multi-engine piston aircraft.
Multi Engine Piston – MEP(A) Class Rating course entry requirements:

  • To be at least PPL(A) holder You need to be a holder of a valid EASA Private Pilot License – PPL(A) or Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A).
  •  To be at least Class 2 Medical holder You need to be physically fit for flying (capable of holding EASA Class 2 Pilot Medical Certificate).

The Multi Engine Piston (MEP) rating is an additional qualification that can be added to an EASA Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) to allow the pilot to operate multi-engine piston aircraft under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).To obtain an MEP rating, a pilot must complete additional training that covers the differences between single-engine and multi-engine aircraft, such as engine and system management, handling characteristics, and emergency procedures. Once the training is completed, the pilot must pass a flight test with an examiner to demonstrate their proficiency in operating the multi-engine aircraft. The MEP rating is valid for 12 months, and it must be renewed by completing a flight test with a Flight Examiner before the expiry date. Additionally, pilots must complete a certain number of flight hours on multi-engine aircraft each year to maintain their proficiency and ensure they are up to date with the latest operating procedures and regulations. The Multi Engine Piston (MEP) rating is an add-on qualification available to holders of EASA Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) who wish to fly multi-engine piston aircraft under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).To earn an MEP rating, pilots must undergo additional training that covers the nuances between single-engine and multi-engine aircraft, such as engine and system management, handling characteristics, and emergency procedures.
